**Adoption decides which standards win.** The founders say eSync succeeded because it shipped with ready-to-use code alongside the specification, kept costs low, and was adopted by multiple OEMs. - **Beyond OTA at Tata Motors.** The Tata Sierra rollout goes beyond over-the-air updates to include data aggregation and remote diagnostics. It is Tata’s first launch on a standard Excelfore helped develop. - **Two-wheelers and four-wheelers share an architecture.** The main difference is the number of ECUs. Real-time diagnostics and remote fixes can spare customers a trip to the garage, a capability Hero MotoCorp wanted. - **Features on demand for a price-sensitive market.** The founders favor à la carte, time-limited features over bundles. The OTA platform can enable, update, and remove features as they expire. - **Security by design.** A vehicle is only as secure as its weakest link. They recommend authentication close to the antenna and encrypted links. They also say a multi-party update pipeline lets several companies add cybersecurity capabilities. - **Resilient, efficient updates.** Interrupted downloads resume rather than restart. Delta compression sends only what changed between versions, typically cutting data by 50% to 99%. - **Ethernet as the backbone.** It scales across speeds, can reduce the need for gateways, and brings a consistent security model. - **EV charging.** Chargers face spoofing and hacking risks and need secure update mechanisms. - **AI and data governance.** The founders favor small, efficient models that pay for themselves in cost savings. They also favor separating identity from vehicle data, sending only anomalies, limiting retention, and following privacy frameworks such as GDPR. - **Make in India.** Indian engineers have mostly built software for overseas clients.
